Ladder Safety & Fall Protection Training (Hands On)
OSHA has specific requirements regarding ladder safety. Under the OSHA regulations, employers are responsible for providing a workplace free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to their employees. In the context of ladder safety, this means that employers must ensure that employees are trained in the safe use of ladders. Specifically, OSHA’s regulations require that employers provide training to employees who use ladders, including the nature of fall hazards in the work area, how to use the ladder safely, and how to inspect the ladder for defects before use. Employers must also see to it that workers use the proper ladders for the job, ensure that ladders are maintained in a safe condition, and ensure that defective ladders are removed from service.
Why is fall protection important?
Falls are among the most common causes of serious work-related injuries and deaths. Employers must set up the workplace to prevent employees from falling off of overhead platforms, elevated work stations or into holes in the floor and walls.

OSHA requires that fall protection be provided at elevations of four feet in general industry workplaces, five feet in shipyards, six feet in the construction industry, eight feet in longshoring and 10 feet for scaffolding operations. In addition, OSHA requires that fall protection be provided when working over dangerous equipment and machinery, regardless of the fall distance.
