In 2006, The State of Rhode Island established the Safe Patient Handling Act with the goal of reducing manual lifting, transferring, and repositioning of patients and residents in hospitals and nursing homes. The Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) has developed the “Ergonomic Guidelines for Nursing Homes” as outreach materials to help employers better identify and control musculoskeletal hazards. Using these resources, along with other sound ergonomic principles, this webinar will investigate several key components that go into developing a comprehensive Caregiver Program for safe patient handling & movement. Beacon’s Caregiver Program is available to policyholders and clients in the healthcare industry and it includes the Caregiver Training Program and helpful guides as part of the Caregiver Safety Series.

This course is intended for caregivers and their supervisors who work with patients who cannot move without help.

Webinars are open to the public.
